As with most of the Cretaceous amber occurences, the deposit in Álava is located in the northern hemisphere, as charted on paleogeographic maps by Henwood (1992). She also observed that the Cretaceous deposits are circumscribed between 30 and 60 degress north latitude, coinciding with a subtropical or warm temperate climatic belt.
